Getting started

Click Browse Folders or drag a folder onto the window. Organizee asks whether to include subfolders, then shows a preview of where every file would go: Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, Archives, Code, Applications and Other. Nothing moves yet.

Click Dry Run to count what would move without touching anything, or Organize Now to do it. Command O opens the folder picker from anywhere.

Common questions

I organized the wrong folder. Can I put it back?

Yes. Open History in the sidebar and click Undo on the latest organization, or choose Edit > Undo Last Organization (Option Command Z). Files go back where they were and the empty category folders are removed. Organizee keeps your last 10 organizations.

Can I choose where certain files go?

Settings > Custom Rules. Map one or more extensions to a folder name, for example log to Logs. Custom rules win over the built-in categories.

What do the other settings do?

Organize by Date adds year and month folders inside each category. Detect Duplicates finds identical copies and shows how much space they take. Include Hidden Files also sorts files whose names start with a dot. You can also pick the sound that plays when a job finishes.

Why did macOS ask about my Music or media library?

The folder you chose contains your Music or TV library, and macOS asks before any app lists files there. Organizee skips those libraries' own media folders and never changes them, so declining is fine.

Some files were not included

On purpose. Organizee does not look inside app bundles or photo libraries, or inside the Music and TV apps' media folders, because moving files out of those breaks the app that owns them. Files already sitting in the right category folder are left alone too.

Does anything leave my Mac?

No. Organizee has no account and makes no network connections. Full details in the privacy policy.
